What is ISO?
ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization. It is located in Switzerland and was established in 1947 to develop common international standards in many areas. At the beginning of establishment, ISO was named IOS (International Organization for Standardization). But then the name was changed to ISO because the word “iso” in Greek has the meaning of “equal” or “equivalent”.
ISO has members come from over 150 national standards bodies. ISO’s purpose is to facilitate international trade by providing a single set of standards that people everywhere would recognize and respect.
